Hydrogen Renewables Australia’s vision is a future in which hydrogen provides economic benefits to Australia through export revenue, new industries and jobs, while supporting the global transition to zero emissions energy.

Murchison Renewable Hydrogen Project

The Project is located  on Murchison House Station and will have a nameplate capacity of up to 5,000MW of combined wind and solar together with a small desalination and electrolyser plant, producing green hydrogen for export.
The Project is also investigating the opportunity to blend hydrogen into the nearby Dampier to Bunbury pipeline. Hydrogen presents an opportunity for Australia to lead in the emerging market for zero emissions energy.
The Murchison Renewable Hydrogen project is founded on the basis of utilising Western Australia’s abundant wind and solar resources to create a sustainable green export energy product. Global demand for hydrogen is expected to be more than 8 million tonnes by 2030 and about 35 million tonnes by 2040.

Did you know hydrogen can be used as a zero-emissions fuel?

Countries around the world are working to reduce emissions, and this is driving a transition towards a clean and secure energy future. In this future energy picture, we all need clean, flexible, storable and safe fuels. Hydrogen ticks all of these boxes. When used as a fuel, it doesn’t produce any carbon emissions. It produces water.

The only thing is, we don’t usually find hydrogen in the form we can use as a fuel. That’s because it’s bound up in substances like water, natural gas, coal and biomass. This means we have to extract it. We can extract hydrogen from water using renewable electricity and this method releases no carbon emissions.

In Australia, we have an abundance of the natural resources you need to make clean hydrogen, making hydrogen an ideal clean energy solution to help power Australia.
